Editorial Reviews:

MLB 08 THE SHOW is set to provide fans with the most realistic baseball experience to date with innovations such as a more immersive Road to The Show mode, enabling gamers to play both offense and defense from the created player's perspective. Providing players with some additional performance incentives, the MLB franchise introduces the Progressive Batting Performance feature, which will both reward players for superior performance and penalize them for hitting slumps. Specific to each individual batter, players will be rewarded with slight contact bonuses, or punished with slight decreases in contact, based on how that batter performs beyond his "natural ability." MLB 08 THE SHOW introduces SCOUT (SportsConnect Online User Tracking), which allows you to set and store your game preferences on the MLB server, and enables the system to look for a Quick Match with opponents that fits similar competitive criteria. Exhibition Mode/Quick Game - Gamers can select their favorite team and compete against the AI for a quick game on the go Historical Greats - Offers Historical Greats, giving them the opportunity to go against the legends of the past Release Point Pitching with Confidence Meter - The ultimate pitcher/batter interface returns Playmaker Fielding- The fielding interface brings the player attributes together with the user's skill level Multi-Branch Fielding - Branch Point Technology goes to a new level as gamers can now take full control of fielders and break out of any animation in the process User Controlled Slides - Players can now control base runners in attempts to advance and/or score MLB Authenticity - Presents fans with finer details and nuances that make the game America's past

Comment: I brought this game for my husband, he loves it. He plays it everyday, he plays it so much I'm starting to regret buying this game...lol

Summary: Home runs?
Comment: It's one thing that really bugs me about this game besides the fielder stopping before throwing the ball. I play with The Angels on hall of fame mode and for some reason i cannot hit home runs well enough with Vladimir Guerrero. I mean he's supposed to be my big power hitter and i use power swing and contact swing on pitches down the middle and they will not go out. Other than that the game seems realistic. Anybody have any solutions or does Vlad just not have that much power.

Summary: Much better than "2K8"...
Comment: As noted in other reviews (of PS2 versions) of both "The Show" and "2K8", there ARE bugs in both games. Having said that... personally, [my opinion] it's not even close, "The Show" is the MUCH-better game, since the bugs in "2K8" were SO frequent that I found it [2K8] to be pretty much un-playable. "MLB 08: The Show" is a solid baseball title.

Summary: hmmmm
Comment: First off, i just want to say how awesome playing this game is. When playing the umps are realistic in blowing some calls. Not enough ejections and stuff from managers in my opinion but i enjoy playing it. What ticks me off is, and i play Road To The Show more then franchise or anything like that, i play on all-star, and the most annoying thing about the game is the bug. After going 4-5 HR 3 RBI's and a SB in the playoffs, it's bottom 9th a ground ball is hit to my player my team is winning by 7, 2 outs, no one on, easy out, then suddenly the game freezes. It's the most irritating thing i have encountered with the game. Other then that it was really fun. The rosters are not updated enough in my opinion, Kosuke Fukudome is not in the game but is the current starting RF for the Chicago Cubs. Great game if you lose baseball, you'll love MLB 08 The Show!!
