(not the iPhone) With the Apple iPod touch, Apple has married the iPhone's revolutionary multi-touch interface to their popular digital media player. So instead of a Click Wheel, you just use your fingers to flick through your music, photos, and video. Two fingers can be used in a pinching or spreading motion as well, which zooms in and out of photos and web pages. That's right, the iPod touch is the first iPod to offer web access. It does this via built-in Wi-Fi support. There's even a special iTunes Wi-Fi Store, so you can browse and purchase new music and video while you're on the road. The latest iPod touch now offers a suite of new applications, including email, maps, and handy widgets for weather, notes, and stocks. The new iPod touch also features a customizable home screen that lets you rearrange buttons and create your own Web Clips. Ports - Dock Connector & Stereo Minijack Connects to a PC or Mac through USB (using the dock connector) 802.11b/g Wi-Fi Wireless / Safari web browser Charge Time - about 3 hours (1.5 hours fast charge to 80% capacity) Audio Support - AAC (16 to 320 Kbps), Protected AAC (from iTunes Store), MP3 (16 to 320 Kbps), MP3 VBR, Audible (formats 2, 3, & 4), Apple Lossless, WAV, & AIFF Photo Support - Syncs iPod-viewable photos in JPEG, BMP, GIF, TIFF, PSD (Mac only), and PNG formats Video Support - H.264 video, up to 1.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Low-Complexity version of the H.264 Baseline Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; H.264 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 3.0 with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats; MPEG-4 video, up to 2.5 Mbps, 640 by 480 pixels, 30 frames per second, Simple Profile with AAC-LC audio up to 160 Kbps, 48kHz, stereo audio in. m4v,. mp4, and. mov file formats Unit Dimension

Customer Rating: Summary: fun ipod Comment: Hello, well I got this ipod for my birthday and it's totally awesome. A computer and music all in one. I take it everywhere I go, can plug it into my computer at work for music. Can read emails and surf the net where I go. Get directions, use a calendar for reminders, etc etc. It's really fantastic. I fit every picture and every song off my computer (7,000 pictures and 2,000 songs) and had plenty of room to spare. You should get one, it's a blast!
Customer Rating: Summary: Best PMP on the market Comment: For its size and good looks, performance, and functionality, this is the best portable media player on the market. Sure, Archos has their grey bricks with everything and the kitchen sink, but you can't slip those things into a shirt pocket much less a front pants pocket. I am currently looking at selling mine for a 3G Iphone, but this has been a great thing to have the past 6 months. Every kid in college with access to campus wifi should have one of these. I only gave this 4 starts because the 32 GB version exists and thats the only PMP that deserves a perfect rating.
Customer Rating: Summary: Awesome Technology Comment: I highly recommend it to anyone. I use the music, calender, weather, safari features and my kids love you tube. I bought a boonbox to put the ipod in and its portable. i purchased multipurpose ear phones so more than one person can listen or watch a movie at a time. it is easy to operate and learn the features.
Customer Rating: Summary: iPod Touch is not for me Comment: First of all, I'm a very happy user of the iPod Nano (2nd gen).
Note: I tried to put zero stars but it appears the minimum is 1 star.
My main reason for buying the Touch was to be able to download, surf, check e-mail, etc. without having to bring a computer with me. Turns out the Touch requires much more than I bargained for.
First of all, Apple documentation is miserable.
Apple won't even let you turn the f%$#(*% thing on without connecting to iTunes. Great, get a new product and you can't even use it, not even to surf the web or do e-mail.
Once I find and download the manual, I see that I need iTunes 7.6. Well, I try to update in iTunes but can't, no idea why. So I go the "manual" route. I download 7.6 and try to install it, only to find that I need Vista or XP. Where was that ever mentioned?
I also need to add an iTunes account, which I never needed before.
I don't know what to do at this point. I don't know if I'll ever buy another Apple product again. This is a user-friendly device???
Customer Rating: Summary: Love it! Comment: I have never had the desire to own an iPod until the Touch came out. I loved the technology on the device, but at first the storage capacity was to small. Once the 32 gig came out I jumped on it. I have really been enjoying the iPod Touch and have filled it with an assortment of music and different tv shows, and movies. I have even been able to put on some of my old student films back from college. The best thing is, I haven't maxed out the space yet. My only complaint is with the Wi-Fi, but this does not reflect Apple in any way. It seems that many places require a payment to utilize their Wi-Fi service, whether that is a subscription fee or a one time use fee while you are there at the store. This just means that I do not utilize the Wi-Fi feature as much as I thought I would, but when I do it works nicely. All in all, it is a great product that does what I need it to do the most: Play music and videos.
