1) Extremely easy to install (no installation at all).
2) I bought one WD 640Gb SATA disc just to test it. No problem with insertion or removal - you can do it without problem even if you're nervous or in a hurry. The disc finds its socket every time and leaves it without too much force applied.
3) The speed of transfer is decent, as expected from USB2 connection.
4) When you don't need the dock any more, just turn it off. Windows XP handles switching on and off gracefully.
5) Stable. In two weeks I did not experience even the slightes problem.
6) Quiet operation: almost no additional noise during standard operation.
7) Not too hot: you can touch your HD while operating without burning your fingers.
My ony complaint: Cables could be a little bit longer. But that's really minor: USB cable is standard for this type of external device, so I replaced it with my own.

Comment: This is a handy product. I wanted to go ahead and begin using SATA drives in anticipation of getting a DROBO. Meanwhile, USB 2.0 is really slow on my iMac. It takes an hour to transfer 4 GB. My firewire drives handle this in 12 minutes.

Comment: I purchased this product to salvage some data from a 2.5" SATA HD that died on me the other day. Tried it on Windows XP machine at work, but it did not install itself as expected. "Found New Hardware Wizard" popped up and did nothing useful. Tried with several different installations of XP: the exact same result. I then tried it with Vista, installing the driver based on the manual given by the company tech support. Again, it does not work.. the product shows up as Unknown Device in Device Manager.
I'll return the product and give another one a try:
