Customer Rating: Summary: Hard To Find Comment: I had a tough time to find this item in office supply stores. I thought they still used chalkboards in schools but I guess they don't. I was happy to find this item and the fast service given to it's shipping to me.
Customer Rating: Summary: Do NOT buy. Damaged. Doesn't fit standard Chalk. Comment: I ordered two of these chalk holders from Amazon via ReStockIt. (That is, Amazon doesn't sell this product when you push the buy button... ReStockIt does.) When the chalk holders arrived they had fingerprints on them, there were black smudge marks and there were dents and nicks all over them, as if they'd been dropped in a gravel pit. I couldn't believe it!
I contacted ReStockIt and they were very, very good at sending me new ones. They apologized. I received two "new" ones two days later. The same thing - products that had fingerprints on them and were significantly damaged.
I (incorrectly) assumed ReStockIt was sending inferior products, so I went online and purchased Charles Leonard chalk holders from another company. They arrived today and THEY ARE DAMAGED!
Charles Leonard chalk holders are bad products. It looks like they're trying to sell us broken/damaged products. I can not believe how damaged they are.
Also, when I thought I might still use the Charles Leonard product I tested them out and found that they use the wrong size chalk. My school uses Crayola chalk and THESE CHALK HOLDERS DO NOT FIT THE CHALK!
Customer Rating: Summary: It doesn't hold standard chalk. Comment: OSU uses 3 different kinds of chalk depending on what building you're in. This chalk holder can't grip any of them, as designed. I have to put a tiny piece of paper between the casing and the gripper to make it tight enough to hold the chalk (Otherwise, when you write with any pressure you push the chalk all the way back in the holder). But it does fit in my hand well, especially when compared to the bulky plastic ones.
Customer Rating: Summary: Re-packaged! Comment: I purchased this product as a replacement for a teacher's. I just got it in the mail today. Looking through the clear packaging I can see finger prints, scuff marks, and little nicks. It was obviously repackaged, and I am EXTREMELY DISSATISFIED. I am in the process of contacting the manufacturer for a new one, which is what I purchased.
Customer Rating: Summary: Works Great For Me Comment: I bought this product brand new and mine was not used. I would blame the merchant for what happened in the earlier review, more so than the Manufacturer. I had a great trusty Rogers Chalk Holder that I purchased in Florida MANY years ago. I lost it and purchased this one. This one is Lighter than my Rogers Chalk Holder and I was afraid it wouldn't work well. However... It holds the chalk firmly, doesn't slip with the chalk and is Very in-Expensive. I actually prefer the lightweight of this Chalk Holder now. It basically does Exactly what it's supposed to do and that's all you need. You just push the button on the bottom, hold the holder with the chalk facing down, and let Gravity take control to advance the chalk (using your hand to stop it at the desired length), and you push the bottom holding the the Chalk Holder with the chalk end up... and it disappears nicely and neatly inside. it's that simple. I prefer this method to the other Chalk Holder that you have to turn a Nut at the tip to tighten/Loosen.
