Summary: it works!!!
Comment: The concept of electronic pulses through your wiring to get rid of pests was something I saw on an infomercial almost 6 years ago.

Back then I was living in Escondido, CA and my roommates and I had a roach issue. So I bought 1 pest offense, only to find out that it didn't do much. So I figured it wouldn't work on bugs, but only animals.
My parents had a mouse problem, in Billings, MT, so I sent it to them. But it didn't do anything.

Now fast forward to 2008. I live in Manhattan now with my wife. Anyone who lives in Manhattan knows about the mouse problem. Out of desperation I tried the electronic pulse concept again about four months ago. But this time I bought the riddex pro brand because it came with 2 for the price of 1 pest offense.
Believe it or not it works. No mice. No mice droppings. AND no roaches either (an extra bonus!).

The problem was not having enough units. I think the information says one unit will cover 1000 sq feet. I disagree. My apt in Escondido, CA was about 800sq feet, but 1 unit obviously didn't do enough. Our apt. in Manhattan is closer to 1000 sq feet and two units actually did the trick.
Just to be uber-safe, I actually bought 2 more units recently, so now I have four in our apt (two at the perimeter and two inbetween).

I wish I could tell you how much effect it has on our electric bill, but I don't know exactly. I don't believe it jacked the price that much, and trust me, to be roach and mouse free is worth it!

Comment: I watched a roach walk right by one of these stupid things. Waste of money.

Summary: May be harmful to appliances?
Comment: Within a couple of days after plugging one of these units into the wall where our major kitchen appliances were plugged in, our 2-year old dishwasher stopped working - just wouldn't turn on all of a sudden. The very next day our washing machine stopped draining. We replaced both appliances and with the Riddex still plugged in, they both cycled unusually long. The dishwasher ran about 4 hours and the washing machine was stuck pumping water in and draining it out for an hour. I changed it to a different cycle and the mechanism clicked rapidly about 10 times and finally finished the cycle. We removed the Riddex and the dishwasher worked perfectly - the washing machine is still not operating correctly. We started a load of clothes before going to work and the machine was still running when we got home 10 hours later. I'm really hesitant to believe the pest control unit is to blame for all this but it certainly is coincidental, isn't it? I'd be very interested to know if anyone else has had any similar experiences with this product.

Comment: I purchased the first units that was put on the market approx. 20 years ago. They were black boxes with long cords. I placed one unit on each level of the house. I have a phobia when it comes to insects, especially spiders,so I keep an Immaculate home. Those first units WORKED. I purchased 2 Riddex's one for each level, and I still see spiders, ants and outside bugs that get in the house. Those old units worked great for ten years + I would love to have the old boxes back.
