Customer Rating: Summary: They work well for me... Comment: I play basketball and work out/elliptical at the gym and needed some phones that stay in place. These do stay in place fine, and sound good.
Construction is solid, and they look good. I'd recommend buying them and giving them a whirl, you can always return them if they don't work for you. But I'm super picky and these are great.
Customer Rating: Summary: Was thrilled when I saw these, but they don't stay in place. Comment: I was thrilled when I saw this design as I had a similar set from Aiwa (that I also bought from Amazon) that I really liked until they were stolen. The Aiwa's were $25 and were just a plastic ear "bud" that went in the ear and the neckband was rigid. The sound was very good for the price and they were comfortable. However, since they were stolen and now discontinued, it doesn't matter. I saw these Sony's and decided to give them a try even thought they were double the price of the Aiwa's. These have rubber ear buds that are very comfortable and the over the ear and around the neck band is also comfortable. The neck band is flexible which allows them to collapse into a small easily portable package. The sound is very good for this price range including tight bass response. I don't have too much experience with headphones at this price range, but I do have a pair of $100 over the ear Sony headphones and a $300 pair of over the ear Grado's so I know what good headphones sould like. At $49.95 these sound pretty good. However, my range of motion at work cause my shoulders and neck to press against the neckband which dislodges the seal of the earbuds which of course affects the bass and overall sound. I do move a lot at work but I'm not running or anything like that. Even just typing while wearing these is causing the seal to repeatedly be broken. Very annoying. I read several other reviews of these by people who excercise with them and they said they stay in place, so maybe I got a lemon. I have tried all 3 sizes of the included buds. I have to remain completely still to enjoy a good listening experience. As they are now, they are not acceptable. They are going back.
Customer Rating: Summary: Sound Decent, Do not stay on very well Comment: I bought these because I needed head phones for the gym. I was not overly worried about sound quality, but I did want them to sound pretty good. Let's say I was looking for a minimum 6 out of 10 for sound quality. These sound ok I would give them a 5. Sound quality being one issue I was looking for a balance of sound and ear phone stability. Is that the correct term? I just want the things to stay on my head when I work out!
I am 6'1", 235 lbs. I would say my head size is a little above average. The headphones would not stay in place on me. They kept popping out or sliding up the outer edge of my ear, not both ears, only one ear. The firm cable control is not adjustable which is what makes these stay in place. So if you have an above average head size do not get these. I gave these to a friend (smaller head) and he loves them). I hope this helps you.
Customer Rating: Summary: not a secure fit Comment: these headphones don't actually stay in your ear very well, especially when running. maybe my ears are shaped different, don't know.
Customer Rating: Summary: A Good Flexible earphone Comment: The SONY MDR-AS50 provides good sound with morderate bass and is good for use while working out. The extension cable is almost always necessary unless you have an mp3 player such as an ipod shuffle that you can clip onto your arm.
Wearing this neck-band will require some skills for the first few attempts and eventually it becomes easy.
