Summary: Horrible experience with this subpar printer!
Comment: I received this printer for free when I bought a computer a few hours ago today (today's Black Friday). I didn't know much about the printer--I've never had an Epson before--but the printer looked nice so I thought nothing of it. Now I understand why the store was trying to get rid of these.
I came home and took the printer out of the box. Everything looked alright. I proceeded to turn on the printer--the printer instructed me to put in the ink cartridges. After I put in the ink, I thought the printer would be ready to go. WRONG! The message screen said, "PAPER JAM" and I couldn't do anything except for turn the printer off and then back on again. Then it said "PAPER JAM" again, and again and again! HOW COULD THERE BE A PAPER JAM IF I JUST BOUGHT THE PRINTER? I had no idea what was wrong, so I went onto Google and searched for help. Apparently this isn't a new problem with this printer--it has something to do with the paper jam sensor that is seriously flawed in this model--and who knows, maybe in other Epson printers, too.
Long story short: I am returning this printer AS SOON AS POSSIBLE and asking for another printer that's NOT AN EPSON! I spent MORE THAN AN HOUR trying to figure out why it would tell me that there's a "PAPER JAM" right out of the box!! ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS!
I'm glad that the other reviewers had a good experience with this printer -- it's probably decent WHEN IT ACTUALLY WORKS! But do your research before buying this product -- seems like this printer comes with tons of problems.

Summary: Instant Apple or PC printing. scanning, & copying, Cheap!
Comment: What a deal! I am very impressed with this printer. I first got to use one at work. We purchased this as a service unit that we could toss in the van and take with us on service calls. It is small and light. And pretty rugged. Plus it is easy to use as a printer and copier. Just plain handy to have around. Anyway, we ended up getting one for our youngest daughter when she went off to college. I figured that a small lightweight multi-function would coume in handy. Needless to say, she loves it.
This printer is about as easy to set up as it gets. Unpack it, plug it in, pop in the cartridges, and turn it on. Run the setup CD on your Mac or PC. That is it.
Print quality for text is pretty good. Certainly good enough for everyday use. And it is pretty fast. On a good quality paper the characters are very sharp, but on cheapo thin paper characters can be a little fuzzy at the edges. Still readable, just not as crisp as on good paper. Stick to good paper for printing text. I actually tried several papers from HP and Great White and the best text results came with from HP 24lb premium inkjet paper. But I settled on HP 22 lb multiuse paper because it is just a whole lot cheaper and still works very well.
The scanner is great. A little slower than more pricey models, but will scan just about anything. Scan colors and resolution are very very good. And the flatbed design means you can scan from books. Very handy for the student. Scanned photos and graphics are very sharp and the colors are accurate.
As a copier it is good for just doing a few pages at a time. It is slower than a dedicated copier, but if all you need is to copy a few pages, it works great. The copy quality is actually better than on most dedicated copiers. Just not as fast. We even copied some photos and those came out almost identical to the originals.
Photo printing is where this really shines. Great quality photo printing. As good as any I have seen, even off printers costing 3 times as much. Great photo printer. Really surprising for a $100 all-in-one.
Other nice features include no need to align the print head after changing cartridges, so no ink wasted on alingment sheets. Also, ink prices are fairly low. For the same number of pages, the price of ink for the Epson is about half of what it costs for my HP. Best of all is a built in card reader, so you can insert your camera card and print right to the printer. You can also copy images from your card to your PC from the printer. Comes in handy.
So for your $100, you get a decent printer, a great scanner, a good coper, and a wonderful photo printer. Plus a card reader! For home or for a student, this is a 5 star deal any day!

Summary: Good in every way
Comment: No surprises with this printer- After a month of use its been easy to scan, print, copy, change ink (which lasts through a reasonable amount of prints). Its a tad noisy compared to some printers I've used, but its consistent with text and photos and does it in fairly good time. A good basic all-in-one for the price.

Comment: First Epson printer, was skeptical with prints from using anything other than a print lab. Now I am hooked at printing my own. Quality of prints is great, better than local print lab. Ink is relatively inexpensive and so far has been moderate to generous. Paper handling is a slight issue when you get into 8X10 boderless prints but excellent quality. For the price, I highly recommend printer. Limited to 8X10 and now looking for same quality with capacity to print bigger, with a budget in mind of course. For the price and quality, Epson did a fine job.
