Editorial Reviews:

Imagine as a musician walking into a recording session with a critically acclaimed artist without the knowledge of what' s going to be recorded that day. Such was the case when Hal Ketchum recorded the masterful body of work, Father Time. The studio engineer remarked that Hal would essentially play a demo of the song on his guitar or banjo. The musicians would then write out a chart and in fifteen minutes everyone would be in the studio making adjustments and we' d have a song in about an hour! Remarkably, two days later the album was born. The album' s standout tracks include Millionaire' s Wife, the whimsical Continental Farewell (to which Hal refers to the song as taste takes a holiday) and the mesmerizing Ordinary Day and Invisible.

Summary: EXCELLENT
Comment: This has to be Hal Ketchum's best CD yet. The music is great - not one bad song on the CD.

Summary: Distinctive voice, emotionally delivered lyrics
Comment: I'm a long time fan of Hal Ketchum. When I heard him sing a song from "Father Time" on the Grand Ole Opry a couple of months back, I was impressed as always. Then I learned that he recorded this "album" the old school way. Everyone came into the studio and recorded together; none of the usual laying tracks and sweetening it until the product sounds sanitized. This made me want to buy the CD and I did. We have enjoyed it immensely - old time country ballad styles, mixed with R&B and a touch of jazz.

Comment: Not the best product for the best voice in country music.
I thought the back-up singers detracted from Hal's pure voice and some of the songs weren't up to his normal standards.
But, I still love Hal Ketchum.

Summary: Hal about not waiting so long between CD's
Comment: I love Hal....have since the first time I saw/heard him on CMT in 1990. He has such a distinct voice that is so refreshing since most of the radio singers sound the same. This CD is definitely more "soulful" than others, and that is not usually the type of music I listen to, but he makes them sound fabulous. My favorite Hal songs are "Past the Point of Rescue", "Stay Forever", "Satisfied Mind". The songs on this CD don't have the same feel, but his voice and musical ability is absolutely AMAZING!!!!
You can't go wrong with anything Hal Ketchum!!!

Summary: HAL KETCHUM--OUR NATIONAL TREASURE
Comment: As always, Hal Ketchum delivers a collection of songs with melodies and lyrics that truly "stay forever" in the mind of this listener, an admitted Hal Ketchum fan since the early '90s. Having had the opportunity to see Hal perform several of these new songs in January of this year at the Crazy Horse in West Covina, CA, the CD delivers equally stirring performances. There is not a single song on this CD that I would consider less than a "five star" effort--from the heart-string tugging "Ordinary Day" and "The Day He Called Your Name" to the absolutely hilarious "Continental Farewell" (be sure to read the liner notes on this song). What was an absolute surprise was the inclusion of "Millionaire's Wife"--a tune that I had not heard Hal perform in several years; I guarantee it will stick in your head and you'll find yourself singing the melody, "She has a house and a big, black Lincoln" for days to come. Yes, Hal Ketchum is indeed a national treasure!!!
