Black Symphony was a unique concert at Rotterdam's Ahoy Arena on February 7, 2008 sold out months in advance. Within Temptation performed to 10,000 fans with the 60 piece Metropole Orchestra and a 20 voice classical choir, as well as on stage stilt performers, costume changes, and an array of stunning pyrotechnic and lighting effects.

Summary: Simply the best concert DVD I've seen
Comment: Sharon is fantastic and the entire concert rocks! Guest vocalists, the choir and orchastra along with special effects (big screen, pyro etc) add to the enjoyment as does Sharon's multiple costumes...simply stated, a must see!

Summary: Black Symphony
Comment: For those who truly love metal and rock music, this is the CD/DVD for you. Within Temptation, in conjunction with the Metropole Orchestra, the Pa'Dam Choir, and some special guests, performed their Black Symphony last February and - well, what can I say? It was a powerful and yet almost unbelievable musical event!
The Black Symphony begins with a gothic, but classical sounding overture performed by the orchestra and choir that lasts for several minutes. Within Temptation then takes to the stage, and from that point on, holds the viewer/listener spellbound as it performs its own brand of electrifying music.
Vocalist Sharon Den Adel is stunning as she sings, not only many of the band's more well-known material, but also performs duets with a few of the event's special guests.
The concert, now on DVD, has something for everybody. It's a mix of classically-structured, goth/metal along with some mellower, but moving material in the middle of the concert.
Anyone who believes that rock music has seen better days ought to watch this concert; and, for anyone who truly loves this genre of music, the concert is for you. This had to be one of the greatest events in rock history.

Summary: WT- Black Symphony
Comment: The DVD is amazing and a must-have for anyone who has never had a chance to see Within Temptation live, and a should-get for those who have (since this particular concert was special and different from their normal ones). The cd is kind of a blow-off, though. It is basically the first half of the concert, minus a couple songs, and is pretty much The Heart of Everything cd done live. Still, Black Symphony is worth buying for the DVD, which has rare songs, some great duets, and behind the scenes footage.

Summary: Absolutely amazing
Comment: I am very much in love with this dvd. This is much better than The Silent Force tour dvd, which was still great of course. While there are 3 extras, I still feel the need for more bonus features, like music videos perhaps. Also, I noticed the video quality somewhat lacked in the quick flash moments but I sat very close to the screen so normally I doubt it is noticeable. Overall, Black Symphony is not to be missed!

Comment: Tout simplement renversant, la qualité visuelle est impeccable et la piste audio l'est tout autant! Je m'attendais à quelque chose de très bon connaissant Within Temptation mais ce spectacle est au-delà de mes attentes. Les voix riches et très justes de Sharon del Adel et de ses invités nous éblouissent, l'orchestre Métropolitain et les choristes s'harmonisent parfaitement aux chansons présentées. Un des meilleurs spectacles que j'aie vu à présent...
