Summary: Like this blu-ray player
Comment: I upgraded from BD30. First bought the Sony S550, but did not like. Returned it and bought the BD55K instead. Picture is sharper than Sony, sound in TrueHD and HD-MA is fuller than Sony, sub out did not require 10bd boost. The remote and menu selections could be a little faster (maybe with future firmware), but not a big complaint. Wished the remote had a "quick replay" (ten seconds) button. All in all, happy with this player and will keep it for a while since it decodes all currently available sound format via analog outs.

Summary: Connectivity
Comment: More of a question than a review.
After reading all of the favorable reviews, I'm considering buying either the DMP-BD35K or DMP-BD55K. But I'm unsure on how to hook either of them up to my other media. I have a Pan. SC-HT820 Home Theater (w/the following connections on the back of the receiver....DVD - Y, PB PR & S-video - DVD/VHS - Video Out, L Line Out & R Line Out - EXT - Video In, L Video Line In & R Video Line In. No Audio In or Out Connections. I also have a Pan. 42PX60U Plasma TV.
Can anyone advise me if I can make this work & how?

Comment: I live in Brazil and am on my way to NYC in a week and want to pick up a Blu-Ray. I am pretty much decided on either the 35k or 55k, for US100.00 it is worth it to get the 55k?
Also, here in Brazil we have a different region DVD (I think we are region 4 and the USA is region 1) but the same Blu-Ray region (Americas, I believe it is region A). Can anyone tell me if I will be able to play local DVDs on this Blu-Ray player? Or will I have to "unblock" the player? Obviously, I don't want to occupy my HDMIs with redundant equipment.
I love my sound/video, but am not really a technofile, pretty much in the dark on this one.
Sorry I used the "review" space for my questions, but I didnt know where else to turn, and I respect the opinions and knowledge of amazon reviewers...
Thanks in advance;

Ryan in Brazil

Summary: An Excellent Blu Ray and DVD player
Comment: I bought the Blu Ray Disc player, primarily on the review found in SOUND & VISION magazine. I was particulary concerned that the unit would have very good up-conversion. I am very satisfied with the Panasonic DMP-BD55K
1080P Blu-Ray Player. I do not have the unit connected to Broad ban. I don't want to spend the additional monthly cost of up grading my connection to the internet. At this point in time, I regard all the additional tricks it can perform as UNINTERESTING. Sorry to say, most of the bonus material on DVDs and Blu Rays are SELF SERVING AND INCREDIBLY BORING. The Panasonic player delivers excent pictures both on DVD and Blu Ray (naturally the Blu Ray is a real feast for the eyes!) I enjoy movies, opera, concerts, and ballet. And, this Panasonic does not intrude in the experience with problems. It's a smooth operator!
